If there was a word to explain the feeling and exhilaration of being the
Campaign Manager of winning campaign of my best friend and International
Director Augustine Lee, DTM it would be "FANTASTIC". Hours of manning the
campaign booth (from 7.00 a.m. to 11.30 p.m.), handing out literature and
"happy" buttons, running around and talking to as many people we can,
searching high and low for the District Governors that hold most of the
votes, shadowing my Candidate everywhere, skipping meals, IT WAS ALL WORTH
IT !!! I would like to thank our most dedicated and committed delegates from
District 51 for their relentless help in the campaign, I would like to
especially like to thank our DG Christopher and IPDG Maimunah for being
there for us and for pulling all his other counterparts to our booth. We
could not have done it without the support of some new friends who gave us
invaluable advice and support for a successful campaign. I cannot begin to
tell them how much I appreciated their kind understanding.
I also made so many friends with the other Campaign Managers; our
relationships grew as the Business Meeting hour drew closer, and in the
ballot counting room despite the fact that some won or lost, we hugged and
congratulated each other for a job well done. It was all done in the spirit
of Toastmasters, with high integrity and respect. I ran this campaign
knowing deep down that he was the right man for the job, there was no doubt
about it; you cannot sell a product well unless you truly believed in it,
Augustine has what it takes to make a difference in Toastmasters
International globally AND I KNOW IT !
We are very proud of him and we wish him all our best, and we know he will
set new standards and work hard on the Board of Directors of Toastmasters
International.
