A New Beginning
My dear fellow toastmasters,
Today marks the beginning of our new term in the new millennium. We have been
blessed with many past leaders who toiled selflessly to bring District 51 to
great heights. We thank you, past District Governors, from the bottom of our
hearts, and especially to our Immediate Past District Governor DTM Maimunah who
has been an inspiration to all for the past 12 months.
We are proud to belong to a premier District: we are the only District in the
world that has achieved the President's Distinguished District for the past 3
terms. Being a premier District ensures that we are continually providing the
best customer service to our members. We will be closer to realise the
toastmaster's vision: to empower people to achieve their full potential and
realise their dreams.
Our theme for this year is "Experience the Breakthrough".
Together, with our new district team, comprising 12 Division Governors, 60 Area
Governors, and 10 other District Officers, we are ready to serve you. Visit

Breakthrough with Speechcraft
Over the years, I am convinced that Speechcraft is one of the best programs from
Toastmasters. Through Speechcraft program, most participants ultimately become
toastmaster members and even new clubs were formed.
Make a breakthrough this year for your Club by organising a Speechcraft session.
Now is the time to plan, order materials from world-headquarters (WHQ), get
coordinators, confirm venue, publicise and sign up new participants. Speak with
your Area or Division Governors if you need help.
Look out for District awards and incentives to be announced soon.
Communication Initiatives
Communication will continue to play a key role in our District success. Our
first initiative was to ensure that all Clubs submit their Club Officers List to
WHQ on time. Our first breakthrough this year...as at 25 Jun, we have more than
150 clubs (61%) who have submitted their Officers List to WHQ on time, and more
to be confirmed. Congratulations to all for achieving this success.
Our District Directory has been scheduled for release in August, and this
will definitely be a great communication tool for everyone. Please give

Club Officers will be receiving the first issue of the District Newsletter in
August. Our editor ATMG Tham Chee
Wah (cwtham@pc.jaring.my) has been diligently planning for this launch, and
expect yet another breakthrough! We are also working to ensure that your club
receives the newsletter timely.
