Your Club Newsletter: Read all about it

It is not too early to think about entering your club newsletter in the TOP 10 contest. Before your newsletter goes to press, make sure it meets World Headquarters criteria so it will receive the recognition it deserves.

To qualify for the TOP 10 contest all issues of your club newsletter must include the publication date and your club and district numbers.

Newsletters will be judged first and foremost on how well they help fulfill the club mission: "...to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth."

Your newsletter should:

- Build a sense of pride and responsibility in your club
- Recognise and encourage involvement and achievement
- Promote membership building
- Promote the club's goals as outlined in the Club Success Plan and encourage achievement in the Distinguished Club Program
- List schedules of events
- Incorporate member's ideas and contributions
- Include administrative information
- Share helpful ideas and advice

Along with content, newsletters will be judged on readability (punctuation, grammar, clarity, etc.), layout and presentation.

Fliers and meeting schedules alone do not qualify as newsletters and will not be eligible for the contest. Sending issues of your newsletters to WHQ throughout the year will not automatically enter your newsletter in the contest. You must send three different issues (published between July 1, 2000 to April 25, 2001) together with a cover letter to the Publication Department at WHQ, postmarked by April 25, 2001. Cover letters must include the name and address of the editor.

Your newsletter can be an indispensable tool for keeping every member involved and for telling others about your club. Make sure your newsletter reflects the outstanding quality of your club.
