Dear fellow Toastmasters,

A. Encourage Mentoring: Friends help Friends Succeed

In our final two months before the term ends, let us continue to help our fellow Toastmaster succeed through mentoring. Working on a speech is much more enjoyable with the help of a mentor. Take a small action today, call up your mentee and offer your help.

The District will be recognising Mentors with the Star Series Awards: MENTOR BREAKTHROUGH AWARD. Given for outstanding dedication as a friend mentoring members towards CTM achievements. You need only to submit a name list of mentees, mentee's club, and the month of their CTM achievements. Deadline: 15 July 2001 to District Governor.

Be a Mentor to someone today...Friends Helping Friends Succeed!

B. Not to be missed...District 51 Annual Convention at HK

You will not want to miss the District 51 Annual Convention at Hong Kong from 18-20 May 2001. At the District Council Meeting on 18 May, we will be electing our leaders for the coming term 2001-2002. Your achievements will also be recognised at the Star Awards presentation on 19 May. The highlight will be the District International and Table Topics Speech Contests. Listen to 1995 World Champion of Public Speaking Mark Brown who will be our keynote speaker.

With our enthusiastic Toastmasters in Hong Kong working endless hours to bring us this Convention, you would not want to miss this meet. Come for a breakthrough experience this May at Hong Kong!

C. Beat the Clock Membership Campaign

This isn't about finishing a speech on time: it's about finishing the year with a BANG!

With each new member your Club comes closer to meeting a Distinguished Club Program new member goal. In addition, Clubs adding five new, dual, or reinstated members during these two months earn a choice of one item from The Better Speaker Series or The Successful Club Series. These short (7-15 mins) educational modules focus on speaking and Club success, with topics such as Take the Terror out of a Talk, Evaluate to Motivate, Impromptu Speaking, and many more.

Make earning the Beak the Clock! award a Club goal and formulate a contest in your Club to motivate every member to get involved. Completed applications and appropriate funds must be received at World Headquarters between May 1 and June 30, 2001. Each member's "join date" as listed on the application must be no later than June 2001.
