A. Rising to No.1 in the world
Every small step we made in the past six months...to complete our CTM/ATMs,
to help built a new club, to achieve DCP goals...have now yielded fruits for
our District! Yes, all our effort has brought the District to the No.1 spot
in the world as at 31 Dec 2000.
Congratulations - each of you has made a significant contribution to the
success of the District! Keep that temperature rising - as we reach out to
help as many people improve their communication and leadership skills!
The District would like to make special mention for 29 clubs who have
achieved 5 or more DCP goals by 31 December 2000; congratulations for the
excellent effort! Special commendations must go to IBBM Kuching, Toa Payoh
South and Braddell Heights II Toastmasters Clubs for achieving 9 or more DCP
goals!
To all other clubs working towards Distinguished status, be patient.
Achieving our dreams takes time. With every effort we put in speaking,
every effort in building club quality, every effort in sharing the
toastmasters benefits with our friends -- we can all take comfort in
realising that we are moving closer and closer to our dreams.
"The journey itself is the adventure and half the reward;
over time, the impossible certainly becomes possible."
B. Talk Up Toastmasters!
Gear up now for "Talk Up Toastmasters!" membership campaign from February 1
to March 31, 2001.
Do Toastmasters like to talk? During the new membership campaign season,
encourage club members to invite as many guests to their club's meetings as
possible. Perhaps clubs can have special guest meetings -- where a regular
meeting is conducted, and the benefits Toastmasters members receive as they
participate in the program are discussed.
Clubs that add five new members to the roster between Feb 1 and Mar 31,
2001, will receive a special Talk Up Toastmasters! ribbon (from World
Headquarters) to display on their club's banner.
Go for it, earn that well-deserved banner for your club!
C. Be a Mentor - Help a Friend
As we reap the benefits from Toastmasters, let us continue to help our
fellow toastmasters as they embark the journey in communication.
Personally, my mentors helped me rehearsed my earlier project speeches from
the basic Communication and Leadership manual. This gave me the confidence,
and even more so as I knew my mentors believed in me and wanted me to
succeed. I strongly believe in mentoring club members in their manual
speeches, and takes on mentees whenever I can.
Identify someone from your club who may need help in their speeches. Offer
your service as a mentor - help them understand the project objectives,
throw ideas on speech topics and outline, rehearse with them and motivate
them to deliver great speeches! Experience the breakthrough with your
mentee as they progress to become great speakers!
The District will be recognising Mentors with the Star Series Awards: MENTOR
BREAKTHROUGH AWARD. Given for outstanding dedication as a friend mentoring
members towards CTM achievements. You need only to submit a name list of
mentees, mentee's club, and the month of their CTM achievements. Deadline:
15 July 2001 to District Governor.
Be a Mentor to someone today...Friends Helping Friends Succeed!
