New Star Series Awards & Breakthrough Awards

Dear fellow toastmasters,

We have great pleasure announcing the new series of District Awards for the Term 2000-2001.

A. NEW STAR SERIES AWARDS

Qualifying period: 1 July 2000 to 30 April 2001

Eligibility: All toastmasters of good standing who are members of toastmasters clubs in District 51

Purpose: To recognise commitment and dedication towards excellence in Toastmasters by early achievements of goals.

Announcement: 18 May 2001

Honour: to be presented at PANSEA Annual Convention, May 2001, Hong Kong

AWARDS FOR INDIVIDUAL EXCELLENCE

* STAR AWARD
Qualifications:
(i) Charter a new toastmasters club (sponsor/mentor)
(ii) Recruit 5 new members
(iii) Achieve a CTM, ATM-B, ATM-S or ATM-G
(iv) Mentor a member to achieve CTM

Prizes:
(i) A prestigious ribbon with medal
(ii) A book prize
(iii) Mystery Prize

** SUPER-STAR AWARD
Qualifications:
(i) Charter or mentor a second toastmasters club (sponsor/mentor)
(ii) Recruit another 5 new members
(iii) Mentor a second member to achieve CTM

Prizes:
(i) A prestigious ribbon with medal
(ii) A book prize
(iii) Mystery Prize

*** MEGA-SUPER-STAR AWARD
Qualifications:
(i) Charter or mentor a third toastmasters club (sponsor/mentor)
(ii) Recruit another 5 new members
(iii) Mentor a third member to achieve CTM

Prizes:
(i) A prestigious ribbon with medal
(ii) A book prize
(iii) Mystery Prize

Notes:
a) Chartering of new clubs
Must be either a club sponsor or a club mentor.
Club sponsor: for new clubs fully chartered in District 51 between 1 July 2000 and 30 April 2001.
Club mentor: must complete 6-months of service as club mentor, ie only mentors of clubs chartered between 1 Jan 2000 and 31 October 2000 qualify, provided their 6-months duties are completed.

b) CTM/ATM-B/ATM-S/ATM-G
You must achieve and register one of the above educational achievements between 1 July 2000 and 30 April 2001.

c) Recruiting of new members
Only new members, including dual or reinstated members (transfer and charter members excluded) of Toastmasters Clubs in District 51 who joined between 1 July 2000 and 30 April 2000 are counted.

d) Mentor a member to achieve CTM
You must mentor a member towards his/her CTM achievement (mentee must achieve CTM between 1 July 2000 and 30 April 2001).

* DIVISION TOASTMASTERS OF THE YEAR AWARD
(For this award, all District Officers 2000-2001 will NOT be eligible). Same guidelines as District Toastmasters of the Year.

- Clubs are encourage to recognise outstanding members and submit a nomination to their Area Governors by 6 April 2001.
- From the Clubs' nomination, Area Governors will recommend an outstanding member to their Division Governor by 20 April 2001.
- Division Governors will select an outstanding member by 4 May 2001 for submission to the District Governor.

AWARDS FOR CLUB EXCELLENCE

PLANETARY AWARDS FOR THE DISTINGUISHED RACE

The following awards will be given for Clubs achieving at least Distinguished by 30 April 2001. To qualify, clubs must
- submit April semi-annual dues by 1 April 2001, and
- meet membership of at least 20 members or a net growth of at least 5 new members by 30 April 2001

* THE MERCURY AWARD
Clubs achieving 5 or more DCP goals by 30 April 2001

** THE VENUS AWARD
Clubs achieving 7 or more DCP goals by 30 April 2001

*** THE URANUS AWARD
Clubs achieving 9 or more DCP goals by 30 April 2001

AWARDS FOR AREA/DIVISION EXCELLENCE

UNIVERSE AND GALAXY AWARDS

The following awards will be given for Division/Area achieving at least Distinguished by 30 April 2001.

* BRONZE UNIVERSE AWARD
Division Governors achieving Distinguished Division by 30 April 2001

** SILVER UNIVERSE AWARD
Division Governors achieving Select Distinguished Division by 30 April 2001

** GOLD UNIVERSE AWARD
Division Governors achieving President's Distinguished Division by 30 April 2001

AREAS

* BRONZE GALAXY AWARD
Area Governors achieving Distinguished Area by 30 April 2001

** SILVER GALAXY AWARD
Area Governors achieving Select Distinguished Area by 30 April 2001

** GOLD GALAXY AWARD
Area Governors achieving President's Distinguished Area by 30 April 2001

B. DISTRICT 51 BREAKTHROUGH AWARDS

Qualifying period: 1 July 2000 to 30 June 2001

Eligibility: All toastmasters of good standing who are members of toastmasters clubs in District 51.

Purpose: To recognise outstanding dedication and leadership towards excellence in Toastmasters.

Announcement: by 15 August 2001

Honour: to be presented at Semi-annual Convention, Nov 2001, Kuching

* DISTRICT TOASTMASTER OF THE YEAR AWARD
(For this award, all District Officers 2000-2001 will NOT be eligible).

** AREA GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

*** DIVISION GOVERNOR OF THE YEAR AWARD

* MEMBERSHIP BREAKTHROUGH AWARD
For individual member who recruited the highest number of new members between 1 July 2000 and 30 June 2001.

** CLUB SPONSOR BREAKTHROUGH AWARD
For chartering the most new clubs in the term 2000-2001 (must be club sponsors of the newly chartered clubs)

*** SPEECHCRAFT BREAKTHROUGH AWARD
For outstanding dedication as Speechcraft coordinators or assistant coordinators during the term 2000-2001 (must be a coordinator for minimum of one Speechcraft during 2000-2001).

Note: Need to submit the speechcraft workshops' dates, and your role as a co-ordinator or assistance co-ordinator to District Governor by 15 July 2001.

**** MENTOR BREAKTHROUGH AWARD
For outstanding dedication as a friend mentoring members towards CTM achievements.

Note: Need to submit a name list of mentees, mentee's club, and the month of their CTM achievements. Deadline: 15 July 2001 to District Governor.
